Melvin Ladousier: Gun rules violate our nation’s Constitution
Re “Locals voice frustration as gun control bills OK’d” (Front page, July 2): The new and proposed “gun control” laws and new fees to be charged individuals who own and shoot firearms, directly contravene the Second Amendment clause that says our rights “shall not be infringed.”
Why does the state legislators not cut to the chase and declare that this is a totalitarian state and throw out the Bill of Rights and any other portion of the Constitution that these pandering legislators see fit? After all, it seems they believe that they have dictatorial right and that the Constitution of the United States is to be followed only as they see fit.
Last I knew, we are a Republic, governed and protected by the Constitution of the United States of America. You, the California legislature, are following the path of every preceding mega-villain – Hitler, Mussolini, Lenin and others back to the beginning of history. We are Americans and we govern – not you. Follow the Constitution, which has kept us great and safe for over 200 years.
