Merced Speedway racing action slated for Saturday, June 22, 2017, has been canceled due to the Detwiler fire.

Saturday’s program featuring IMCA Modified and SportMod stock car racing at Merced Speedway has been canceled due to the Detwiler Fire. CalFire is using the Merced County Fairgrounds and the speedway grounds as an equipment staging area.

“Our primary focus is to help the residents affected by the wildfire. Many of our racers and fans live in the Mariposa area,” said Merced Speedway owner Ed Parker. “We will revisit the speedway’s schedule after this crisis passes.”

The speedway had scheduled a full program of racing this week, followed by a planned two-week summer break. Racing is presently scheduled to resume on Aug. 5 with the annual Legends of Merced Speedway event honoring the past stars of the racetrack.
