CHP investigates fatal single-vehicle collision in Merced County. 75-year-old victim was in crosswalk

The California Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle collision Monday that left a woman dead.

CHP said the collision occurred at 2 p.m. near Shanks Road and Lewis Circle in Delhi when a 75-year-old woman was in the crosswalk when she was hit.

She was pronounced dead on the way to the hospital, CHP said.

The 77-year-old driver remained on the scene and was cooperating.

CHP ruled out impaired driving.
