Sacramento International Airport ranked No. 9 out of 11 “U.S. Airports Where Your Flight is Least Likely to be Delayed,” according to a new report from the Family Vacation Guide.
Of the flights arriving at the airport, 84.95% were on time and 15.05% were late or canceled, according to data compiled from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
According to the bureau’s “Airline On-Time Statistics and Delay Causes” report, a flight is considered delayed when it arrives 15 minutes later than its scheduled arrival. Data used in the Family Vacation Guide was is for the period between July 2019 and July 2021.
Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport ranked No. 6 — 85.7% of its flights were on time and 14.3% were late or canceled. And John Wayne Airport-Orange County ranked No. 8 — 85.12% of its flights were on time and 14.88% were late or canceled.
The two California airports sandwich Portland International, located in Oregon., ranked No. 7.
Metropolitan Oakland International Airport took the last spot of California airports at No. 10 on the list as 84.9% of its flights were on time and 15.1% were late or canceled between July 2019 and July 2021.
San Francisco International Airport was the only California airport on the list of 10 “U.S. Airports With the Most Frequent Flight Delays” with 18.79% of its flights late or canceled — tying at No. 10 with John F. Kennedy International Airport, located in New York.

Daniel K Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, Hawaii, took the top spot as the airport that faced the fewest delayed arrivals between July 2019 and July 2021 as only 11.69% of its flights were late or canceled, according to the report.

Newark Liberty International Airport in Newark, New Jersey, took the top spot as the airport that faced the highest number of delayed arrivals between July 2019 and July 2021 as 24.29% of flights were late or canceled.

Allegiant Air faced the highest percentage of delayed flights between July 2019 and July 2021 with 27.31% of its flights being late canceled.
