What happened to ASIP Coffee in Merced?

ASIP Coffee Roasters closed its second location in the Yosemite North Shopping Center at Yosemite Avenue and G Street after deciding to focus on its downtown operation.

The owners said running two locations stretched the company’s time, energy and resources.

“We realized we were spreading ourselves too thin instead of pouring everything into doing one thing really well,” owners wrote in an Instagram post. “So we made the decision to simplify, refocus and show up better for the community we love.”

The G Street location served its final customers on April 10.

“We’re still here,” owners wrote. “This is just the beginning of a bigger story and we want to share it with you.”

ASIP continues to operate its downtown shop, The Sensory Lab, at 847 West Main St., Merced.

The coffee shop on G Street has since been replaced by Ember Coffee & Eatery.

Why did Christina’s Boutiques close in Merced?

After 24 years in business, Christina’s Boutiques closed its doors as its owner retired from retail.

“Christina’s Boutique Merced is closing after 24 amazing years!” the clothing shop’s owner said in an Instagram post. “I’ve decided to retire from retail ... and will be closing Christina’s Boutique Merced!”

The women’s clothing store officially closed April 18.

Why did Five Guys closed in Merced?

National burger chain Five Guys permanently closed its Merced restaurant in June, eliminating 13 jobs.

The restaurant opened in June 2016 at 3572 G St., Merced, in the Yosemite North Shopping Center.

The company has not publicly announced why the location closed after about 10 years in business.

The site remains boarded up, and no future tenant has been announced.

Is Ashley Furniture still open in Merced?

Ashley Furniture has permanently closed its Merced location.

The furniture retailer opened in 2020 at 1764 West Olive Ave., taking over the former Best Buy building next to Lowe’s Home Improvement after the electronics retailer left Merced following 17 years in business.

Although Ashley Furniture occupied the site for about six years, the company has not publicly explained why the store closed. However, reports of the closure began surfacing in early June.

As of June 22, the Ashley Furniture store in Merced had officially closed.

City officials have not announced what business, if any, will move into the space.
